About Holly

Hi! My name is Holly, I’m in my 20s and the inspiration for this blog is my daughter, Lanie.

In October, 2010, I found myself facing an unplanned pregnancy. Over the course of the 8 months following this difficult news, the Lord lead me to place Lanie with a wonderful family of (now) 6. Lanie Anne was born on May 22, 2011. She lives a few states south in Georgia and is blessed beyond measure to have parents Angie and Alex, as well as siblings Bella, Beckett (twins, 9 yrs), and Gracie (16 months). Alex and Angie went into their marriage knowing they could never have biological children. Their whole family has grown through (open) adoption.

Here, I seek to share my open adoption experience as Lanie grows. So far, it’s been more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. Excruciatingly difficult, but joy-filled and beautiful at the same time. I’m also just excited about sharing Lanie! Though I am not the mother whose job it is to raise her, she will forever be my pride and joy. As described by another open-adoption blog-writer, Amy (AMSTEL LIFE), we are mothers–just not parents. So as a mother, I am eager to share about my daughter : ). She’s freakin cute!!

Some random things I love: Weimaraners, Lake Michigan, Autumn, thunderstorms, snapdragons, the smell of hardware stores, chick flicks, exercising, yoga, superman ice cream, music, coffee + the sound of silence. My identity is in foremost in Christ and I strive to follow Him each day. (I don’t always do the best job, but that’s what the cross is for.)

  4. IIt’s always nice to (cyber) meet fellow birthmom bloggers. I’ve found reading and especially relating to other birthmoms my best therapy for getting through the hard days. Thanks for being courageous enough to share.
